As an evidence based fitness coach, my mission is to help you discover the most authentic version of yourself through strength training and proper nutrition. Whether you are newer or an experienced lifter, I offer small group training classes and HIIT bootcamps for all levels. You’ll find my virtual coaching style to be interactive, fun, high energy, motivating and supportive. In fact, I’ve been known to break into dance during a workout!
An added benefit at Smart Fitness is my 8 Week Nutrition Program, offered at select times during the year. Individual coaching is also available to help you reach your goals! When it comes to nutrition, my philosophy is that there are neither good nor bad foods and they are simply along a continuum of least nutritious to most nutritious. I don’t ascribe to extreme diets or the all or nothing approach of a “clean diet” — and personally, I love, love, love Cheezits.
Ultimately, I believe that nothing lifts your mood better than moving your body and fueling it with nutritious foods. My simple formula to your best self: train smart, eat smart.

Hi there! I’m Carolyn, an evidence based fitness coach who has learned over my 49 years of life that nothing makes me feel more authentically ME than living this healthy lifestyle.
Married for 19 years with two teenage sons and an MA in Teaching, I have not followed a “typical” career path. I started in business and finance selling mutual funds, moved on to selling pharmaceuticals and then decided to return to school and become a teacher. After teaching for a few years I focused on raising my sons and re-entered the workforce as a professional image consultant and personal shopper. It wasn’t until my late 30’s that I finally “found” fitness.
Teaching fitness classes while working in fashion went hand in hand, but after 4 years it became clear to me that it was time to choose one passion to follow in order to grow my career. This time of reflection helped me to realize that I had always been searching for the one thing that would make me feel comfortable in my own skin, strong and confident. Fitness was that one thing. It helped me to find my true self and was the best treatment for the anxiety and depression I struggled with in my 20’s and 30’s. I knew I had to teach it to others!
Today, I am the happiest I have ever been and feel strong and resilient, even during truly challenging times. I’m in the best shape of my life as I approach 50 and want to share my passion with other women who may feel “less” or “not good enough.” I believe you are never too old and it’s never too late to start.
An early to rise and early to bed kind of woman, I love to share a good meal and drink Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand – as long as it’s before 9pm. I’m a helper and giver by nature who enjoys a good laugh and good company. Nothing would bring me more joy than having YOU come train with ME!
I thoroughly enjoy working out with Carolyn via Zoom. At no time do I feel like I’m missing out because we cannot have in person training. Carolyn is attentive to our form and abilities at all times. I frequently cannot make the scheduled time and so I do the recordings of the classes. Yet, she still manages to give me a helpful tip during those sessions and is always spot on. I highly recommend training with Carolyn. It is always fun and challenging!
I’ve been virtually training with Carolyn for 4 months and loving it! Carolyn knows flexibility is key during the pandemic so you can join her live Zoom training or she will send you the recorded version to do at your convenience. Carolyn thoughtfully plans her workouts and they are different and fun every time. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes sure everyone uses proper form. Her energy is infectious and she always makes me laugh, which is an added bonus!
Carolyn is an amazing instructor leading a remarkable body building program. Historically, I have not been motivated to go to the gym on a regular basis, but the virtual Smart Fitness class has kept my interest and commitment – and even more than that – I’m excited for the class. Each workout is different, challenging and fun. Carolyn always comes with energy, excitement and enthusiasm – it is a fabulous way to start off before a busy workday. Within weeks of joining the class, I started to see muscle tone and definition that I had never seen before on my body. As I continue with the program, I feel stronger and more energetic.
